With the Katy Trail, a smattering of charming and historic river towns, a world famous wine trail (plus breweries and distilleries), world class artists and musicians and a collection of beautiful public lands, the Missouri River valley is a destination in and of itself. From the gorgeous limestone bluffs to the sandbars lining its banks, there are many opportunities to enjoy the beauty of this amazing natural resource.
Dan and Connie Burkhardt have been visionaries in promoting the preservation and resources of this area. Their Katy Land Trust supports working with landowners and river towns to preserve the natural beauty of this area. Dan worked with a series of local authors to publish the beautiful “Missouri River Country” book, which highlights the history, ecology and commerce of the last 100 miles of the Missouri River, from Hermann to St. Louis. He’ll be joining us for a discussion of the treasures and challenges of conserving the best that remains of this region.
