Our hosts for the Big Muddy Speaker Series in St. Charles will share some of the great work they have been doing for our rivers, streams and green spaces with their completely volunteer organization, Greenway Network.

Charlene M.Waggoner, Ph.D. President, Greenway Network, Inc will talk on “Great Lakes, Big Rivers and Soapboxes”.
The talk will cover Charlene’s impressions from a decade of advocating for water quality in the confluence region.  This will be an informal discussion of the development of Charlene’s approaches to and philosophical underpinnings of environmental outreach with an emphasis on positive narrative.

Greg Poleski, Vice President Greenway Network will discuss “Connecting to Nature though Volunteer Work on our Public Lands and Waters”

Greg will talk about his 25 years of volunteer work organizing planting and invasive species removal events, trash pickups, and trail work on our parks and streams. The talk will discuss events such as National Public Lands Day,Honeysuckle Hacks and Greenway Network’s Conservation Team and the effects they have on our parks and the people who participate.

  • Take I-70 to exit 229B – the 5th St. Exit
  • Merge onto 5th St. headed north toward St. Charles.
  • After about 1 mile, turn right on Monroe St.
  • Turn left onto N. Main St.
  • Big A’s will be on your right (308 N. Main St.) Additional parking is available in the rear.
