Traditional large-scale developments bring the specter of long-term environmental damage in the form of disturbed watersheds, poor water quality, destroyed habitat and degradation of green space – not to mention a negative impact on Creve Couer Lak Park.  But is that reality inevitable?  A new idea, “green infrastructure,”is gaining momentum as a way to balance the value of nature and the demands of economic development.

Maryland Heights Residents for Responsible Growth, a local grass-roots organization, recently conducted a feasibility study to identify how green infrastructure methods can protect and conserve natural resources while adding value to development plans.  Melissa will reveal the results of the study, which will be freshly completed.
Melissa Moulton has been a community activist on behalf of Maryland Heights residents and Creve Coeur Park for eight years.
