Big Muddy Speaker Series presents:
The Missouri River: Then, Now and in the Future?

Original Presentation- Jan. 11, 2012 Big Muddy Speaker Series in Kansas City
“The Missouri River: Then, Now and in the Future?” – by Neil Bass, biologist with the Army Corps of Engineers
The historic Missouri River was a completely different river system than what we have today. From a meandering, unpredictable muddy stream, we have reshaped the Mighty Mo into a more stable (but still unpredictable) swift channel.
Neil Bass, biologist with the Army Corps of Engineers, made a presentation covering how we have moved from there to here and where we may be going. All the major programs affecting the Missouri River were touched upon, including the Pick Sloan Plan, the Bank Stabilization and Navigation Project, and the Missouri River Recovery Program and all of its components.
