Big Muddy Speaker Series presents:
Spotlight on the Port of Lincoln in Mississippi River Floodplain

The Port of Lincoln is a proposed multimodal port facility in eastern Lincoln County near Winfield serving highway, train and river shipping. After four years of planning, last October the developers announced that they are going to begin applying for permits for Phase 1 of the port.
On Nov. 13, 2018, the City of St. Charles City Council passed a resolution stating that the project would do “permanent, devastating and wholesale damage to the environment, wildlife, habitat and heritage in Lincoln and St. Charles counties.”
David Stokes, the Director of Great Rivers Habitat Alliance, will discuss why his organization is opposed to the project and what the direct impacts of this floodplain project will be. GRHA was "founded in 2000 in order to directly combat the growing consumption of the 100-year Confluence Flood Plain through commercial development."
