What began as weekend adventures grew into something bigger when he started volunteering with river cleanups. He discovered that caring for the Missouri River meant caring for the communities it connects. Before he knew it, he'd gone from weekend paddler to one of two employees to the person responsible for bringing the world's longest non-stop paddling race to Missouri. 

Steve is deeply familiar with countless bends, sandbars, and stories along the river. More importantly, he knows how to help others discover their own connection to these powerful waters—whether it's their first cleanup or their attempt at the legendary MR340.
