Big Muddy Speaker Series presents:
Global Freshwaters Summit: Its St. Louis Beginnings and Future Plans

The 5-day Global Freshwaters Summit was held in 2021 in partnership with the Missouri History Museum in St. Louis. Recognized by the U.N. as one of Earth’s pre-eminent freshwater biomes, the Great Rivers Mississippi-Missouri Confluence served as the inaugural freshwater biome to help make visible—amplify and embolden—the interconnectivity of our river ecosystems, economic prosperity, food security, racial and economic justice, science, history, culture, community, AND Earth resilience. The second summit, which will focus on the Tigris-Euphrates Confluence in Iraq, is being planned for 2024.
